Services to begin during the 2015-2016 Concert Season

FOR THE FOLLOWING VACANCIES (Per-Service Positions):

 

Principal 2nd Violin                        Principal Cello

Principal Horn                                  2nd Trumpet

                Substitute Positions* (Violin, Viola, Cello)

 

*Candidates for the substitute violin, viola, and cello positions have an option of submitting an audio audition throughout the year. For more information, click here.

 

Approximately 52 services will be scheduled during Symphony Orchestra Augusta’s 2015-2016 season. The per-service rates for 2.5 hours will be: Section (including 2nd Trumpet)- $65.00. Principal Second Violin- $100.00. Principal Cello- $100, Principal Horn- $90. Mileage ($.27 per mile) and per diem ($30 per overnight) are paid when applicable, subject to limits.

All principals will be required to accept a certain number of the concert cycles offered in a given season in order to receive the compensation levels above. If the player is not able to commit to the required number of concert cycles, then the compensation will be $86.00 per 2.5 hour service for string principals and $76.00 per 2.5 hour service for Principal Horn.

A limited number of qualified applicants will be invited to these auditions. If you are interested in auditioning, please send a cover letter (indicating your desire to audition), one-page resume, and completed Audition Application Form  so that these materials are received in the SOA office no later than Friday, September 18th. Please send all the above materials in one envelope. Once your materials are received and you have been accepted, you will be extended (via email) an invitation to audition. All applicants are responsible for obtaining their own copies of required music excerpts.

Once invited to audition, a $50 refundable deposit is required to secure an audition time. Your deposit check, marked with “Audition October 2015”, must be received in the SOA office no later than Monday, September 28th (check made payable to “Symphony Orchestra Augusta”). Please note that the Symphony Orchestra Augusta will deposit the check upon receipt. Deposit monies will be refunded on the day of audition or if notice of cancellation is received by Personnel Manager on or before Monday, September 28th. Otherwise, your deposit will be forfeited to SOA. Specific audition schedule including audition times will be determined after Monday, September 28th. Contact Pawel Kozak with any questions.
