Making Music Connections

SOA educational programs involve public performances as well as educational programming and community engagement. Guest artists, SOA Guest Concertmasters, and SOA other professional musicians visit area schools to perform, teach, and inspire.

As part of the initiatives of SOA’s Making Music Connections program for the schools, guest artists will be available to participate in educational residencies for several days prior to their performances at the Symphony Series and/or the Columbia County Music Series. In the 2012-13 season, SOA offers The Harlem Quartet (March – from New York), The Four Hornsmen of The Apocalypse (January), and the Perlman/Quint/Bailey Piano Trio (February). These lecture-demonstrations will be scheduled, and will reach over 7,500 fourth and fifth grade students in the Central Savannah River Area. These services will also be available for students in grades K-12, attending magnet schools and private schools.

The extraordinary skill and talent of these guest artists shares the joy of great musical performance with our audiences.

Fees for these artists (30-minute presentations) are in the $275-$500 range. Scheduling and confirmation of residency dates will begin August 2012.
