Launched in February 2013, SOA’s Annual Composer Festival aims to foster an in-depth understanding of classical music’s greatest composers and the relevance of their music to present times through performances and related community activities for all ages. The 2016 Festival will celebrate the woks and life of Johannes Brahms and will take place January 9-16, 2016. The festival will feature a variety of activities across the CSRA, including the Bach Rocks! Quartet performing in unlikely venues in and around Augusta during the week as wells as at The Charlie Norwood VAMC. Additional activities will comprise a family day with an instrument petting zoo and other kids activities and a free open rehearsal for families – Saturday, January 16th at First Baptist of Augusta. The festival will culminate with the Symphony Series concert on Saturday, January 16, featuring an all-Brahms program with his Second Piano Concerto and Second Symphony.
