The 2016-17 Composer Festival celebrates the life and works of George Gershwin and takes place February 20-25, 2017. A variety of activities includes an opening party with a screening of An American in Paris, a themed evening at Van Gogh and Vino, and an evening of dancing at Brandon Wilde. Additionally, there will be a family day featuring an instrument petting zoo prior to the open dress rehearsal on the Saturday morning of the concert. All of this culminates with the Symphony Series concert on Saturday, February 25, featuring an all-Gershwin program including the classic, Rhapsody in Blue.
Launched in February 2013, SOA’s Annual Composer Festival aims to foster an in-depth understanding of classical music’s greatest composers and the relevance of their music to present times through performances and related community activities for all ages.
