Symphony Orchestra Augusta continues to work to increase involvement in our community. Our KROC series, partnership with Boys and Girls Club, as well as the increased involvement of our guest concertmasters with the schools of the CSRA are just a few examples of the expansion of SOA’s community engagement programs. These new partnerships combined with the expansion and growth of Making Music Connections, Discovery Concerts, the new Composer Festival and the Concerto Competition allow SOA to be a more active and engaging organization.
SOA is also in the beginning stages of some very exciting new community programs, including our developing Music and Wellness program with the VA Hospital’s music therapy department and an El Sistema after school program with the potential to change the future of all children of the CSRA.
“I believe that there are people out there that would be willing to invest in orchestras taking a more aggressive stance on proving their impact. Tomorrow’s healthiest orchestras, literally tomorrow’s, will rest on the foundation of building sustainable societies.” – Stanford Thompson
